Saliva Profile Testing

The only way to know for sure if your hormones are unbalanced is to have diagnostic testing performed. However, typical blood serum tests are not always effective in allowing you to see the full picture when it comes to your hormone levels.

Somewhere between 95% and 99% of any hormone that is in your bloodstream is bound to carrier proteins, making it unavailable to the target tissues. The percentage of the hormone that is unbound is the only amount that freely diffuses into your tissues, which include the salivary gland. Because of this, saliva testing allows you to assess and measure your bioavailable hormone levels, which are the levels of your hormones that are available to the target tissues.

Blood Spot Profile Testing

Blood spot testing is ideal for measuring sex hormones and thyroid hormones, as well as elements like lead and magnesium. Research also shows that this type of testing is more accurate than regular blood serum testing for measuring blood hormone levels in patients who are supplementing topically.

Thyroid Profile Testing

A wide range of factors including hormone imbalance, mineral deficiencies, environmental pollutants and more can interfere with thyroid production and lead to health problems. An under-active thyroid can cause a long list of symptoms including weight gain, low energy, dry skin, hair loss and menstrual problems. An overactive thyroid can also cause symptoms that include weight loss, irregular heartbeat, sweating, irritability and nervousness.

Depending on your needs, we have multiple diagnostic testing services we provide to asses your thyroid function that include blood spot and dried urine, and range from the most essential profile to comprehensive profiles. Thyroid testing is also included in many of the other panels we offer such as hormone profiles, combination profiles and specialty profiles.

Combination Profile Testing

Comprehensive profile testing for both men and women combines saliva testing with blood spot testing to give you a full picture of your hormones and your thyroid function at the same time.

Along with sex hormones and thyroid testing, we also have the option to include Diurnal Cortisol in your combination profile testing to check your adrenal function.

Elements Profile Testing

Neurotransmitters are chemical messengers that the nervous system uses to relay information from one nerve to another. In order to maintain proper health, we require optimal neurotransmitter balance. When there is an imbalance, it can cause our body to be under or over-stimulated, which leads to neurological and/or psychological symptoms such as anxiety and depression, insomnia, PMS and PMDD, impulsivity and chronic fatigue.
